Abstract:   (9 Views)
Assuming that the main problem in today’s world is learning through transformation of information from the electronic form, and given that the contemporary learners are exposed to so much information in this form that the management of its flow is beyond their capability, developing critical thinking skills seem to be the only way of dealing with the problem, as such skills help the learner to distinguish correct from incorrect information and benefit from diverse sources. This is exactly what connectivism emphasizes while criticizing traditional learning theories for not having paid enough attention to the communication and information revolution that emphasizes learning through dynamic networking and its associated ecosystem. According to this theory, the most important indices and characteristics of a program that could help with the development of critical thinking skills are learning through networking, emphasizing connective knowledge, recognizing the evolutionary nature of learning and science, valuing the learning experiences of others, aiming at bringing up independent and critical citizens well informed of democratic principles and capable of dealing with contradiction and differences constructively.
