Given the overwhelming problem of inquisitiveness and curiosity being absent from Iranian classrooms, especially in basic science courses, and also in the light of the claim that the 5E teaching method can help with the solving of this problem, the researchers took upon themselves to examine the effectiveness of the method. To this end, two readily accessible sixth grade classes in Tabriz were tested on these skills and then one of them was taught Basic Science utilizing the said method of teaching for 8 weeks, while the other was taught the same content in the same period using the usual approach. The instruments used to measure the skills were assumed to be of reasonable validity and reliability. The Covariance analysis of the collected data revealed a positive effect of the 5E method. Hence, it is recommended for use by all teachers. |
