Ways of Implementing Instructional Coaching for Teachers within the Educational System

Instructional coaching is a new and effective approach to teachers’ professional development that has been utilized in many educational systems. To explore strategies that can help with the implementation of such a program in Iranian educational system a group of 12 instructors from among those who were going through a course in electronic learning, was carefully selected and interviewed. Content analysis of the respondents’ views on the subject yielded five general sets of strategies: need creation prior to need assessment, expansion of interactions with related institutions, development of instructional coaching within educational institutions, ministerial level tactics, and governmental and policy level tactics. Both short, and long term strategies require appropriate and timely investment.
