Teachers’ Experiences of Students Resisting School Norms

In order to sketch a better view of factors affecting students’ resistance to school norms, the experiences of 15 teachers who were purposefully selected to the point of data saturation, were recorded through extensive and semi-structured interviews. The analyses of the responses lead to the identification of 181 elements within 6 major and 22 minor themes. Disregard for values, teaching competencies, behavioral disorders among adolescents, family role, adolescent’s interaction with peers, and the cyberspace harmful potential are the most important factors influencing students’ resistance to school norms according to the teachers interviewed.
