Being a responsible is a personality trait that develops within a cohesive framework affected by cognitive, affective, and behavioral factors. Ego strength and self-compassion are assumed to be the most significant of these factors, and as a result, it is hypothesized that increasing these two would result in improvement in the person’s sense of responsibility. To show this relationship, a cluster sample of 370 high school students in Tehran was asked to fill three questionnaires on these three constructs at their convenience. Data analysis revealed a significantly positive correlation between the three constructs. Furthermore, the relationship between ego strength and sense of responsibility is mediated by self-compassion. Hence, students’ sense of responsibility improves if self-compassion is increased through psycho-educational interventions. |
