Abstract: (180 Views) |
Given the importance of financial decisions that have to be made by all of us, this question may arise as to what factors may affect the making of such decisions. Among such factors the strength of religious beliefs and personality traits were selected to be explored. To this end from among all teachers in Tehran’s 6th school district who had at least once borrowed money from the bank, an accessible group of 271 teachers was invited to participate in the study. The participants were given three instruments of approved validity and acceptable internal consistency. The analysis of the collected data shows a significant positive correlation between the strength of religious beliefs and the way that financial decisions are made. Similarly, the relation between such decisions and traits like honesty, humility, excitability, extroversion, being adaptive, being duty-bound, and openness to experience was found to be significant and positive (p < 0.05). Thus, it can be concluded that both religious beliefs and personality traits affect financial decision making.
