Reflective teaching as a style in teaching has shown to be effective across different academic areas, in which teaching English is no exception. To demonstrate its effectiveness, a sample of 70 English teachers in Ghazvin was asked to answer two sets of questions on reflective teaching and preferences in teaching styles. The final scores of students taught by each teacher were also used as the dependent factor. Results show that affective and moral aspects of reflective teaching are the best predictors of teaching style, just as reflective teaching predicts student achievement in English. Furthermore, it was shown that the metacognitive aspect of reflective teaching is a significant predictor of student achievement. Hence, it is recommended that pre- and in-service teacher training courses focus on reflective teaching as an effective style.
