Given the Hofstede’s theory of cultural dimensions, it was deemed necessary to determine the extent to which these dimensions are reflected in the ways that elementary school principals in Mashhad run their schools. To this end, a sample of 184 principals and 808 teachers were selected from among all teachers and principals in three school districts differing in levels of SES. The internal consistency of the two questionnaires used was determined, as was their construct validity. The overall results of data analysis show that the participating principals exhibit four of Hofstede’s cultural dimensions in their style of leadership: uncertainty avoidance, collectivism, femininity, and low power distance. Path analyses also show high correlation between these dimensions and different aspects of leadership.
