To assess the extent of alexithymia and organizational commitment, and examine the relation between them and occupational burnout, a cluster sample of 300 high school teachers was selected and three instruments for measuring the three constructs were administered. Data analyses revealed that alexithymia is positively correlated with occupational burnout, whereas the latter’s correlation with organizational commitment is negative. It is concluded that the occupational burnout can be predicted by the other two constructs; hence, preventive measures would involve improvements in both commitment and alexithymia.
