Content Analysis of the High School Textbooks in Iran from Information Literacy Perspective

To determine the extent to which information literacy is utilized within the 10th grade textbooks across different disciplines, a sample of 19 textbooks from among 96 high school textbooks was selected. The instrument used in the study consisted of two sets of major and minor categories of information power as related to information literacy. Results show that across the three major areas of humanities, science, and mathematics the Farsi textbook contains the highest frequency of referring to information literacy. As for the disciplines, the textbooks in experimental science show the highest frequency (141) while the humanities have the lowest (124). The creative and effective use of information has the highest frequency (47.11%) across three disciplines.
