Academic achievement is a function of many factors among which the school entry age has been controversial. Although the impact of the age factor is rather obvious, its effect is mediated by factors such a spiritual intelligence, social skills, and creativity. In order to devise a structural model by which the academic achievement can be predicted, a sample of 250 female 10th graders was selected through cluster sampling, Utilizing three adequately valid and reliable instruments, spiritual intelligence, social skills, and creativity of the respondents were measured. Data analyses supported the model by explaining 26% of the variance in academic achievement by the above four factors. The effect of age factor is shown to be direct and significant while its mediated effect is considerable. Results clearly show that school entry age can impact the other four factors either directly or indirectly.

Given the importance of physical activities for children of preschool age, it merits a critical viewing of the textbooks used at this level in order to improve the textbooks content where it may be needed. To this end, three such books published under the supervision of Tehran’s Department of Elementary Education in 2014, were selected, and reviewed for any words, sentences, and pictures related to physical activity. Findings show no instances of attention being paid to the word physical activity and its importance, just as the concept of rhythmic movements is ignored. As far as other concepts, such as just games, healthy life style, native games, and mobility control are concerned, the attention paid is the least, while the most attention is paid to the concept of fine movements. All in all, it is suggested that more emphasis is put on physical activity in preschool textbooks in general, and in particular on gross movements as well as fine ones.

To assess the quality of the services provided at in-school Olympiads, and detect any possible gaps between expected and perceived quality, a sample of 420 students, principals, vice principals, teachers at participating schools, and the provincial general directors, their assistants, and the heads of provincial physical education departments was given a questionnaire of adequate validity and reliability. Data analyses revealed that in some respects, such as empathy, accountability, and confidence, the respondents are all satisfied with the quality of services rendered at the school Olympiads. But in other areas such as the physical aspects of the services and their trustworthiness, the respondents’ expectations were above the perceived reality of the given services. These expectations and perceptions are ranked.

Theoretically speaking, among topics that need to be covered throughout the elementary school years, legal ones loom large. In order to determine the extent to which this coverage is actually present in elementary school textbooks, a set of 17 such books from among 51 in total, deemed appropriate for such matters to be covered in, was selected and content analyzed utilizing concepts related to moral values and social norms in addition to the expressed social goals for the elementary level of education. Results indicate that most of the textbooks covered in the analysis lack a legal perspective. Only in the Social Studies textbooks of the last four grades of primary school both direct and indirect attention is paid to legal matters. It is, therefore, suggested that in-service courses be offered in order to familiarize teachers with legal matters not covered in the textbooks so that the goals of elementary education in regards to producing law abiding citizens come closer to being achieved.

Given that attitudes play an important role in teaching and learning, it is of the utmost importance to look into teachers’ attitude towards students, especially those with special needs, and detect any differences between regular and special education teachers. To this end, a sample of 107 special education teachers’ attitude towards such students was compared to that of the same number of regular teachers in Zanjan and Bijar. Both groups consisted of those teachers who were accessible. The instrument used to measure the attitudes was of adequate validity and reliability. Data analyses show that special education teachers have a meaningfully more positive attitude towards students with special needs. Furthermore, in both groups about 10% of the variance in attitude scores is explained by the three predictors of previous experience as an intermediary and combinatory teacher, major field of study, and whether gone through in service training. Teacher knowledge of students with special needs and inclusive education explained 7.4% of the variance in order to improve their attitudes.

Today’s educational systems across the world are aiming at producing graduates with research personalities in order to meet the challenges facing them in many different domains. However, the dimensions and constituents of such a personality need to be identified and nurtured in order to achieve the goal of developing a research personality in students. To this end, a group of 30 university professors, associate professors, and assistant professors was identified in order to complete a questionnaire constructed based on the opinions of experts on the topic. The data was factor analyzed to explore dimensions and constituents, yielding 7 significant dimensions and 63 constituents. Dimensions are as the following: problem-based culture, scientific dignity, explorative orientation, communication, evaluation, technological literacy, and sharing. Thus, by concentrating on these dimensions the development of research personalities among students can be nurtured.

With the aim of helping female high school students in Qazvin lead a happier life, the hypothesized relationship between happiness, spiritual intelligence, and accountability was explored with the help of an accessible sample of 150 such students. Three instruments of adequate validity and reliability were utilized in order to collect the needed data. Analyses of the collected data revealed that accountability is a better predictor of happiness as it explains 18% of its variance while only 8% of the variance in happiness among respondents is explained by spiritual intelligence.
