Abstract:   (2694 Views)
Given the importance of physical activities for children of preschool age, it merits a critical viewing of the textbooks used at this level in order to improve the textbooks content where it may be needed. To this end, three such books published under the supervision of Tehran’s Department of Elementary Education in 2014, were selected, and reviewed for any words, sentences, and pictures related to physical activity. Findings show no instances of attention being paid to the word physical activity and its importance, just as the concept of rhythmic movements is ignored. As far as other concepts, such as just games, healthy life style, native games, and mobility control are concerned, the attention paid is the least, while the most attention is paid to the concept of fine movements. All in all, it is suggested that more emphasis is put on physical activity in preschool textbooks in general, and in particular on gross movements as well as fine ones.
