Given the environmental crisis in Iran being one of the severest in the world, and most of environmental problems being rooted in lack of awareness in this regard, it would be up to schools to promote a culture in which the environment is valued and protected. To determine the relationship between the attitude towards environment and thinking style, a random sample of 375 high school students was given the Sternberg-Wagner questionnaire on thinking styles as well as measures on attitude towards environment. Data analyses revealed a significant relationship between attitude and thinking style. However, no correlation was found between thinking style and environmental behavior. Such studies can be helpful in identifying the factors that affect attitudes towards environment, leading to protective behaviors.
